Our Mission

Creating a Pleasant and Sustainable Future

Suuru Yoowa Katna (SYk) is committed to promoting local sustainable development and combating rural exodus and illegal emigration of young Yoowa and Tanéka people in the North-West of Benin. Our main objective is to encourage young people to remain in their community, to actively participate in its development, while preserving their cultural heritage and identity.

Our Goals

1. Fight against rural exodus and illegal emigration:


o Raise awareness among young people in Yoowa and Tanéka about the dangers of illegal emigration.
o Implement information and awareness campaigns in schools, community centers, and public squares.

2. Promotion of local youth development:
o Encourage young people to stay in their community by offering them viable future prospects there.
o Support local entrepreneurship and professional training initiatives adapted to local realities.


3. Strengthening cultural identity and community attachment:
o Promote Yom and Tanéka culture as an asset for local development.
o Organize cultural and educational events to strengthen young people’s sense of belonging and pride in their community.


4. Contribution to local and national development:
o Involve youth in community development projects, such as sustainable agriculture, local crafts, and environmental projects.
o Collaborate with local authorities, schools, and other NGOs to create a support network for young people.


5. Psychosocial support and reintegration:
o Provide psychosocial support to young people returning from unsuccessful or difficult migration.
o Establish reintegration and training programs to help these young people rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their community.
